Racecourse Hostel, also trading as Racecourse Backpackers Hostel - the former Racecourse Horse Stables in Christchurch, New Zealand. Racecourse Backpackers Hostel was opened in the early 2000s with the goal of creating a home away from home like haven for our guests! Operated by knowledgeable staff with a foundation in the real estate industry that is positive, professional and solution-driven to provide the very best service.

Situated between Racecourse Road and Epsom Road. The main building was built with classic solid triple bricks double storey structure. The backpacker/mini motel styled units were constructed using comtemporary building materials, formerly horse stables. Recently spectacularly refurbished without losing the charm of our buildings. The Racecourse Backpackers Hostel offers quality Christchurch backpacker and youth hostel accommodation at affordable prices.

We have a wide range of private rooms (single/twin, double, triple, twin double, queen and quads) and dormitories, along with an extensive range of shared facilities and services including WiFi (free with your own compatible laptop/mobile), Free Parking and guest computer at reception, for casual, short and long term accommodation. In addition, we have powered parking lots for caravans, campervans and motor homes. The premises is wheelchair and disability friendly.

In 2003, these horse stables had been remarkably refurbished and revived into its present backpackers/youth hostel/mini motel styled/budget hotel accommodation. In 2009, the accommodation was further redecorated and Racecourse Backpackers Hostel was born. The Racecourse Backpackers Hostel is the closest budget accommodation to the Riccarton Rotary Sunday Market and the Christchurch Airport. It is also an up and coming affordable accommodation for locals and independent travellers.

Policies

Curfew:

None

In order to avoid fraud, only make prepayments (reservations or deposits) using a credit card (or any other card that does not require a PIN number for online purchases) or PayPal. Never make an advanced payment using cash, checks, money orders or bank transfers. Learn why.

Cancellations or changes to bookings must be made at least 48 hours prior to the check in date and time or you will be charged the full amount of the booking. This cancellation or changes policy shall apply to all bookings, online or offline or phone bookings.

For phone, email bookings and reservations the 50% non-refundable deposit applies (the 48 hours prior to check-in cancellation policy does not apply).

Please note credit cards are accepted when making online and/or phone bookings. 5% card fee applicable for all payments by credit card (Visa, Mastercard). Make sure that you have your ID with you to check in.

An administration charge of $25.00 or 10% of the total booking amount whichever is greater applies to each booking change or amendment or cancellation.

We understand that sometimes circumstances change, and you may want to cancel or change the dates of this booking. If this happens, here's what you need to do:

Changing the dates you stay:

1) Check the Cancellation Policy supplied by Racecourse Backpackers Hostel above to see if they allow changes to bookings for the room(s).
2) Remember that there is a $25.00 administration charge for cancellations or changes, in addition to any penalty from the Racecourse Backpackers Hostel shown in the Cancellation Policy above.
3) Check if Racecourse Backpackers Hostel has rooms available for your new dates.
Call our office on one of the numbers listed above to change the booking and process any extra payment or refund necessary.
4) We will email you to confirm the new dates of your booking.

Cancelling your booking:

1) Check the Cancellation Policy supplied by Racecourse Backpackers Hostel above to see if they will allow you to cancel this booking.
2) Remember that there is a $25.00 administration charge for cancellations or changes, in addition to any penalty from the Racecourse Backpackers Hostel shown in the Cancellation Policy above.
3) Call our office on one of the numbers listed above to have the booking cancelled.
4) We will process any refund due and send you an email to confirm the cancellation if necessary.
